About Us
Decody is an independent review site with one purpose: helping adults find the best AI companion and AI generation tools without wasting money on the ones that disappoint. We test every platform ourselves, we score on merit, and we tell you what we actually think.
Why we built this
The AI girlfriend and AI porn generator space grew from nothing to a multi-million-user industry in under two years, and with that growth came an avalanche of review sites that were really just affiliate link farms with thin, interchangeable copy. The same ten platforms listed in a different order, the same promotional screenshots from press kits, the same vague praise with no specifics. Useful for no one.
We wanted something different. A site where you could come with a specific question — "which app has the best long-term memory?", "which generator keeps a character consistent?", "what does my £5/month actually buy?" — and get a real answer based on someone who had actually paid for and used the thing. That is the site we built, and it is the site we keep building.
The name Decody reflects the mission: decode the noise, decode the marketing language, decode the pricing tricks, and give you something clear and actionable. We are not trying to be the biggest AI review site. We are trying to be the most trustworthy one in this specific category.

For our top-ranked platforms, we go further — multiple testers, longer session time, and editorial deep-dives that go well beyond bullet points.
Beyond individual reviews, we publish focused "best-in-test" rankings for specific use cases: the best free options, the most realistic companions, the best value picks, the best for anime and hentai. These are not just the full list reordered — each ranking applies different weights relevant to that specific question, and comes with its own long-form buyer's guide.
How we stay honest
Decody makes money through affiliate partnerships: if you sign up for a platform through one of our links, we receive a commission at no extra cost to you. We disclose this clearly on every page that contains affiliate links. It is how we fund the testing, the server costs, and the time it takes to do this properly.
What we never do is let affiliate relationships affect our rankings. Our scoring rubric is applied before any commercial consideration. The person running a platform through our test battery does not know or track what it pays us in commission. Our highest-paying affiliate is not necessarily our highest-rated platform — and if you look at our rankings, you will see we score some lower-paying partners very highly and some higher-paying ones quite critically. That is not by accident.
We also do not take sponsored content, do not publish "advertorial" reviews in disguise, and do not accept gifts or free accounts from providers in exchange for favourable coverage. Our paid test accounts are purchased by us, through the same flow any user would take.
How we test
Every review is based on real, first-hand use. We create accounts, pay for premium tiers, and run a standardised test battery across every platform. For companion apps, that includes multiple chat sessions, a long-term memory test across several days, scenario and roleplay testing, image generation across a consistent prompt set, and a full feature audit. For image generators, that means assessing raw quality, character consistency, style range, prompt control, and generation speed under realistic load.
We score each platform across six weighted categories — chat realism (25%), image quality (20%), features (15%), ease of use (15%), value (15%), and privacy (10%) — and the weighted average becomes the overall score. We re-test the top platforms every 2–3 months because this space moves fast and scores that were accurate six months ago may not reflect reality today.

Our standards
- We only review legal services intended for adults 18 and older, and every page is age-gated accordingly.
- We never feature, endorse, or encourage non-consensual content, or any content depicting minors in any context.
- We update reviews when platforms change materially — a feature addition, a price change, a significant quality shift — not just on a fixed schedule.
- We tell you the cons. A review without meaningful criticism is an ad, not a review, and our readers deserve better than that.
- We distinguish clearly between verified facts (pricing we have confirmed on the platform's own checkout), research-backed claims (from third-party reviews and user reports), and editorial opinion.
A word on the category itself
AI companion and NSFW generation tools are genuinely new, genuinely useful for many people, and genuinely controversial. We do not pretend that controversy does not exist, and we do not moralize at the adults who use these products for personal entertainment. At the same time, we are clear about the limits: these are software products, not people; the best use involves informed, healthy expectations; and some applications of the technology — involving real people without consent, or anyone who appears to be a minor — are harmful, illegal, and categorically rejected on this site.
We try to review these products the way a sharp, experienced consumer advocate would: honestly, specifically, with clear recommendations and clear warnings, treating our readers as intelligent adults who can make their own decisions with good information.
